Lego Exhibition – The Art of the Brick  at The Franklin Institute

Kids and LEGO fans can experience the art of the world’s most iconic and colorful brick at The Franklin Institute. If you’ve ever played with LEGOs, you will love this special exhibition, The Art of the Brick, opening February 7th through September 6th.  See the world’s largest display of LEGO art making its Philadelphia debut!
\nThe Art of the Brick showcases 100 art installations created entirely of LEGOs by contemporary artist Nathan Sawaya. Recreations of masterworks like Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and Van Gogh’s Starry Night will blow your mind. The traveling exhibition also features original works of LEGO sculpture, including a massive T-Rex dinosaur skeleton.

The first artist to create an exhibition of LEGO art, Sawaya has turned people on to this cool artistic medium in all parts of the world. Families can wander through galleries of LEGO creations, including original pop-art and 3-D sculptures like Rodin’s The Thinker. If you’re looking for cool family things to do in Philadelphia, this ultra-creative display is a tribute to the ingenuity of think-outside-the-box art.

Each work encompasses thousands of LEGO bricks and fascinating notes on how many LEGOs went in the piece. In Philadelphia, the exhibit has some new components, including a almost life-sized Liberty Bell created exclusively for the City of Brotherly Love. At the end, you can sign a LEGO brick and add it to the Philly LEGO wall.
