How to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Philadelphia

There’s nowhere better to celebrate the Fourth of July than Philadelphia — the birthplace of American democracy. And where else does the celebration last a week? From June 29 to July 4, Wawa Welcome America offers many opportunities to get patriotic, with free concerts, parades, and the best fireworks show in the country. Read on for some of our favorite things to do this Fourth of July in Philadelphia.

Sunday, June 30: Run up the Rocky Steps

Or walk. Or — better yet — take a seat, relax, and watch a screening of the iconic film “Rocky” that was filmed on these famous steps.

Tuesday, July 2: Eat a (Free) Wawa Hoagie

You may know them as sandwiches, subs, or heroes. In Philadelphia, they’re called hoagies. And no one does them better than Wawa. When you get hungry, head to the Independence Visitor Center and the National Constitution Center from noon to 2pm to try one for free.

Thursday, July 4: Concert and Fireworks

Join Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor for the main event, starting at 7 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m. If you make it back to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, you can watch the United States Army Field Band perform live as the fireworks light up the sky above.
