Your Guide to Summer 2022 in Philadelphia

The summer season is underway, and there is a lot happening around the City of Brotherly Love. As usual, there will be the revival of many traditions, some of which include elaborate festivals in some of our most famous and beloved parks. In addition, we have a ton of exciting exhibits, experiential food events, and entertainment in the form of world-class sporting events and musical concerts.

Park Festivals & Fun

In the winter, Philly’s best parks set up roller rinks and villages. In the summer, it’s all about roller skating and fun. Dilworth Park will have the Rothman Orthopedics Roller Rink up through July 17th with an on-site beer garden too. Also, there will be more blading at the Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest & Spruce Street Harbor Park, which is ongoing throughout the summer, where there will also be hammocks, concerts, games, and a Ferris wheel. 

Old City Eats

Old City Eats is one of the more exciting ongoing summer events coming to Philadelphia this summer. On Thursday nights from May 26th through August 25th, over 20+ restaurants and bars will do small plate and drinks specials from 4 pm to 7 pm. Some of the more anticipated restaurants involved include Khyber, Lucha Cartel, Rebel Taco, and the world-famous Campo’s Philly Cheesesteaks. 

Games & Shows 

Throughout the year, Philadelphia draws large crowds and inspires enthusiasm with its top-tier professional sports franchises. Throughout the summer months, you can watch the Phillies extend their historic baseball tradition at Citizens Bank Park. The Philadelphia Union will be playing MLS matches into the summer season as well. 

Exhibits & Tours

Philly has amazing museums and culture. The famous Eastern State Penitentiary will be hosting spooky nighttime tours this summer all the way through September 4th. Another highly anticipated cultural event, Harry Potter: The Exhibit will run at The Franklin Institute through Sunday, September 18th. The world premiere, this immersive exhibition will feature moving paintings, floating candles, and more Hogwarts favorites.
