Your European Summer Escape, No Passport Required
This summer, The Rittenhouse invites you to take a journey — not by plane, but by plate, by glass, and by indulgent experience. From the café culture of Italy to the flower fields of Provence and the elegance of French garden parties, Savor Summer, à la Rittenhouse is a seasonal series of curated experiences designed to transport you, all without ever leaving Rittenhouse Square.
Whether you’re a city local or a weekend visitor, we’ve partnered with some of our favorite European-inspired brands and institutions, including Juliette Peach Liqueur, St. Dalfour, and the Barnes Foundation, to bring you a summer full of beauty, flavor, and leisure.
From Paris to Provence at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room
In honor of the Barnes Foundation’s From Paris to Provence exhibition, the Mary Cassatt Tea Room has partnered with Juliette Peach Liqueur to create La Vie en Spritz, a limited-time menu of cocktails inspired by the works of Cézanne, Van Gogh, Renoir, and more. Each spritz is a drinkable ode to a painting featured in the exhibition, blending art history with flavor and fragrance.
Highlights include:
- The Cornerstone, inspired by Cézanne’s A Table Corner, featuring peaches (the core note in Juliette) and fresh mint, a nod to the foundational still life that gave rise to the entire menu.
- Special Delivery, based on Van Gogh’s The Postman, steeped with smoked lapsang souchong tea and sage, balancing smoky intensity with bright fruit.
- Fields of Provence, a lush spritz infused with French lavender, amarena cherry syrup, and rooibos tea, inspired by Cézanne’s Terracotta Pots and Flowers.
- Self Care, drawn from Renoir’s Before the Bath, blends cold-steeped chamomile gin with honey and lemon, a tender tribute to rest, ritual, and the art of slowing down.
- Conrad’s Grog, a rum-forward iced cocktail inspired by Giorgio de Chirico’s The Pirate, offers a citrusy homage to literary rebels and Mediterranean intrigue.
It’s a cocktail menu meant not just for sipping, but for lingering, reflecting, and savoring.
Exhibition runs June 29–August 31 at The Barnes Foundation. La Vie en Spritz menu is available all summer at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room.
