You don’t need to visit a museum to take in art and culture in Philadelphia. Several outdoor sculptures in Rittenhouse Square are some of the cities best-loved works of public art. One of the most famous sculptures, dating back to 1832, was created by Antoine-Louis Barye. The dramatic “Lion Crushing a Serpent” is located in the center of the square. In the reflecting pool since 1911, Paul Manship’s “Duck Girl” should also not be missed. For a peek inside one of the neighborhood’s charming 19th-century townhomes, visit The Rosenbach (2008 Delancey Pl.) to see a collection of more than 30,000 rare books.
