Celebrate America’s 250th in Philadelphia

There are cities that host history, and then there is Philadelphia, a city that is history. In 2026, as the nation marks 250 years of independence, no destination carries the weight of that milestone quite like the place where it began. From the cobblestones of the Historic District, the soaring columns of Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell standing in quiet authority behind its glass pavilion, history is woven into the modern experience.

You’ll want to be in Philadelphia this year to stand at the precise intersection of past and present. You’ll find a remarkable calendar of exhibitions, international spectacle, and cultural programming that transforms the city into the most compelling destination in the country.

The Room Where it Happened

Walk into Independence Hall, and you’re standing in the very place where the Declaration of Independence was signed. Across the street, the Liberty Bell remains a powerful symbol recognized around the world.

During the Semiquincentennial, these landmarks take on new energy with special exhibitions and public programming. At the Museum of the American Revolution and the National Constitution Center, rare documents and artifacts shed new light on the debates of 1776. Standing in these spaces offers a meaningful connection to the country’s beginnings.

Your Home Base on Rittenhouse Square

Located on Rittenhouse Square in the heart of Center City, the Rittenhouse places you within easy reach of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway’s museum corridor, where the Philadelphia Museum of Art is home to one of the country’s most renowned art collections and the iconic steps made famous by Rocky. You can also explore the galleries and boutiques of Old City or the preserved 18th-century streets of Society Hill.

After a full day in the city, return to The Rittenhouse for gracious service and award-winning dining at Lacroix. Overlooking Rittenhouse Square, there really is no better place to experience history than at its very core.
