The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival has celebrated Japanese culture in the heart of Philadelphia annually for over 20 years. The event is inspired by Japanese influence dating back to 1926, when Philadelphia received its first cherry blossom trees as a gift from the far east. Today, the celebration is a widespread, two-day affair featuring live performances by acclaimed groups like the Tamagawa University Taiko Drum and Dance Troupe, and KyoDaiko. There will also be Japanese food and drinks sold by vendors, interactive workshops on origami, and tea demonstrations.
